     A struggling college student who set himself up as a £300-a-time 'exam cheat for hire' so he could illegally sit driving theory tests on behalf of learner drivers has been jailed.

    Olivier Yolo, 27, agreed to fraudulently take theory tests for cash at a series of DVSA centres across the the north of England, including in Bolton and Stockport, for learners who were due to take them feared they would fail.

     The amount of money lost through holiday fraud has more than doubled in just 12 months, according to the UK’s scams reporting centre.

    Action Fraud said victims reported losing a total of £15.3 million in the 2022/23 financial year, compared to £7.4 million in 2021/22.

     The UK is facing a pension fraud crisis that could see millions scammed out of their life savings, according to research.

    A report by data and technology specialist LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Pension sector faces looming fraud crisis, warns that, as digital pension services come online, pension holders’ greater access to cash from retirement savings is leaving them vulnerable to scams.

    BES Utilities owner Andy Pilley has been found guilty of fraud as a seven month long trial concluded on Friday (19 May 2023) at Preston Crown Court.

    A jury unanimously found Pilley guilty of two counts of running a business with the intention of defrauding creditors, one count of false representation and one count of being concerned with the retention of criminal property.
